WELCOME TO
GOLDEN COAST SWIM SCHOOL
At Golden Coast Swim School, we believe every child deserves to feel safe around water. Every parent deserves to have a peace of mind– so we help turn fear into confidence and teach your child to save themselves when it matters most.
Golden Coast Swim School is the Inland Empire’s leading destination for infant and toddler swim lessons, specializing in children ages 6 months to 6 years. Rooted in sunshine, safety, and smiles, our mission is to provide life-saving survival swim skills while helping children build confidence, independence, and joy in the water.
About Us
At Golden Coast, we believe swimming is more than a skill — it’s a foundation for water safety, confidence, and lifelong memories. Our programs include Infant Survival Swim, Toddler Swim Lessons, and Swim-Float-Swim instruction, combining evidence-based survival swim techniques with the spirit of the California coast. Children learn to roll to their back, float, breathe, and swim safely to the side — building the skills, confidence, and independence every parent wants their child to have.
Founded and led by Sydney Erickson — certified instructor, owner, and mother of two — Golden Coast Swim School was inspired by a passion for child water safety and a personal commitment to individualized instruction. With her experience as a mother, including raising a child on the autism spectrum, Sydney ensures every lesson is gentle, personalized, and milestone-focused, helping every child feel supported and celebrated.

Expert, Certified Instruction
Our founder and lead instructor, Sydney Erickson, is a certified survival swim instructor and a mother of two. She brings years of hands-on experience and a passion for child water safety to every lesson. From Infant Survival Swim to Swim-Float-Swim for toddlers, your child learns proper technique and develops critical life-saving skills in a safe, encouraging environment.
Proven Survival Swim Techniques
Golden Coast specializes in evidence-based survival swim instruction. Children are taught to roll to their back, float, breathe, and swim to safety—skills that are essential for real-world water safety. Our programs give parents the peace of mind that comes from knowing their child can handle themselves in the water.
Individualized, Child-Focused Lessons
Every child learns differently. That’s why our lessons are personalized for your child’s age, ability, and learning style. Whether it’s infant swim lessons, toddler survival swim, or advanced swim-float-swim, we celebrate every milestone and encourage confidence, independence, and a love of swimming.
Family-Centered, Coastal Inspiration
Based in the heart of Southern California, we bring the spirit of the coast to every lesson. Our goal is to make every session fun, safe, and memorable, where children leave not just swimming smarter, but smiling brighter.

WHAT WE OFFER
This isn’t just a swim lesson—this is a life-saving skill.
Our Survival Float program is intentionally designed for babies and toddlers who can sit unassisted for at least 1-2 minutes. In this program, your child will learn one of the most vital safety skills around water: how to roll to their back, float, breathe, and stay calm until help arrives.
This is where confidence meets capability.
Once your toddler is walking and exploring the world with fearless curiosity, it’s time to give them the next level of water safety—intentional movement and survival.
Swim • Float • Swim builds on the foundational Survival Float skills and teaches children how to truly navigate water with independence.
Where confidence becomes true swimming ability.
This stage is designed for the “big kid” years–when little personalities are shining, curiosity is bold, and independence is blooming. Now that your child understands how to float and breathe, the Swim • Float • Swim program teaches them to move through the water with purpose, strength, and confidence. This is where confidence meets capability.
Just like our toddler program, children learn the lifesaving sequence of swimming, floating to breathe, and continuing to swim-but at this level, we elevate their technique.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Infant Self-Rescue or Survival Swim?
Infant Self-Rescue (ISR) or Survival Swim teaches babies and toddlers how to roll onto their backs, float, and breathe independently if they fall into water. These lessons give little ones the skills to save themselves in an emergency and help them develop confidence and respect for the water.
How young can my child start swim lessons?
We start lessons as young as 6 months old! At this age, infants are developmentally ready to learn basic breath control, floating, and survival responses through gentle, age-appropriate instruction.
Are survival swim lessons safe?
Yes, when taught by a certified instructor, these lessons are extremely safe. Each lesson is short, hands-on, and tailored to your child’s comfort level. Our goal is always safety first, followed by confidence and fun.
How long will it take for my child to learn to float or swim?
Every child learns at their own pace, but most complete the core survival skills within 4–6 weeks of consistent lessons. We celebrate every milestone along the way!
